Rather than another story, thought you might like a video this time

Hello Reader,

Happy New Year! This month I have a more family-friendly coyote story to share. And you don't even have to work for it because it's a video! (You can read last month's R-Rated post here if you missed it.) Watch it when you have some time to spare as it is about 18 minutes long and Coyote is more of a hero in this one. It's a very nice story and I'm a big fan of the performer. He's kind of famous in my neck of the woods.

This story is performed by Kenthen Thomas

Kenthen captivates audiences with his fascinating retellings of legends of the Secwépemc, his family land for more than 10,000 years. This is where his late grandmother, respected and even legendary Secwépemc elder, the late Dr. Mary Thomas, taught him the traditional art of storytelling. Storytelling for the Shuswap people traditionally brought entertainment to the families during long winter nights. It is also a way to keep the history alive, tell important lessons, and share amusing anecdotes about all the creatures found on this land.

A Horror Novel: The One Where Nobody Ever Really Graduates from Bronwenn School

After Joanna Hunter leaves her fiance at the altar, her parents send her to an intensive program for failing adults. Bronwenn School for Insomniacs isn't like any normal college. Its attendees move zombie-like through simulated life scenarios, pretending to date, work, and socialize in an unreal New York City. It's not safe to walk the halls during class. There's nowhere to escape. And an unseen audience laughs at their every move.

Joanna and five friends must obey Bronwenn's unwritten rules or risk punishment that turns the liminal hallways into a nightmare hellscape. They'll be mutilated if they fail to comply. But the price for conformity is their entire lives.

Sometimes a fresh start begins with old problems.

Molly Padia thinks moving to Albany, New York will give her a fresh start. As Molpadia, a timeless Amazon, she spent centuries policing supernaturals and keeping them off the mundane world’s radar. A life she wishes to leave behind her.

An innocent fling ignites a new romance. The legal edge it comes with leaves Molly in a precarious position. A gruesome murder brings a familiar face to town, sending her on a collision course with her past.

Something darker lies beneath Smallbany’s dull facade. Threats lurk around every corner. Neither the city nor its newest resident are what they seem. Molly will need to confront old enemies with allies.

The streets of Albany may be dangerous, but so is she.

Hello Reader, Last time I threatened to tell you some Coyote stories. I even dropped a hint that a flying vagina or two might be involved. You can read that post here if you like. Well. No sense beating around the bush. Let's get to it. This particular story I got from the fantastic book Coyote America: A Natural and Supernatural History by Dan Flores. I've taken out all the good parts and paraphrased his eloquent prose with my own barely intelligible vernacular. Enjoy. As supernatural helper...

Hello Reader, Last month I gave you a popular version of the Secwepemc (Shuswap) creation myth. You can read that post here if you like. In it, Coyote featured prominently. He's a confusing one, this Coyote, or Sk'elep as he's called. On one hand, he is a great magician with powers matched only by the Old One. It is Coyote under the directions of the Old One who is tasked with getting the world ready for the people to live in. Coyote is one of a group of beings called Transformers. And no,...
